We have one very sweet little cat that seems to lose it’s weight in hair every month – it’s everywhere. Not to mention kitty litter and dried up bits of food that coat the floors in all of the rooms week upon week…I’ve only ever had $60-80 vacuums and with all of the trouble they have caused with clogged filters, lack of power and loss of suction, I decided to invest in this Shark and I have to say, it’s a darn good vacuum. When I’m using this thing, I believe I actually have a look on my face similar to the woman in the pictures – like we’re content to vacuum all day long and possibly for a living. It truly is a joy to use – very lightweight but still has some heft in the main motor unit so you can tell it is built well. And it is powerful – I haven’t kept up with the technological advances in home vacuums and haven’t done the tests with nuts, bolts, marbles or a bowling ball – but it does hurt when you get it stuck to your face – FYI.All of the attachments connect to the unit with a satisfying click and are effortlessly removed. The carpet sweeper unit helps propel itself forward on even the thicker carpets which is a treat because the older cheapo units would get stuck in some areas. Maneuverability and getting under low clearance objects is now done with total ease. The hardwood floor attachment with the terrycloth pad that wipes while moving it across the floor works well too. And though the dual lights on the carpet sweeper and the one on the main unit look really cool (like Audi supplied headlights for this thing), I was surprised to find that they actually light up the carpet/floor and work very well in spotting areas you may have missed. The smaller upholstery sweeper is my favorite attachment and after using it on two of my sofas, I was amazed (and then equally appalled) at how much dirt and hair was deposited into the bin. And the bin is small – like others reviewers stated, I had to empty it 3-4 times after doing the whole place on the first use. However, like a lot of them said, that was just the first time going through what I previously presumed to be my clean apartment. The next week yielded far less and I only had to empty twice (and that’s because I leave the bin clean for the next use to gauge how dirty things get over the week). It’s a cinch to empty and clean – unlike the last Hoover I owned…I don’t want to talk about that. The other truly wonderful thing about this vacuum and my main reason for buying it is it’s small footprint. It’s not designed to stand upright on it’s own but if you live in a 1 bedroom apartment with valuable limited closet space and a girlfriend/wife that wants all that limited space to herself for her “stuff”, you don’t want a vacuum taking up space where your Taylormade’s clearly fit and absolutely belong. A plastic wall/door mount hook comes in the box and I now have it mounted on the wall close to the ceiling inside my precious tool closet where it fits perfectly and is totally out of the way of anything else stuffed in there, the bag of attachments hanging right next to it.The only slightly annoying part is cord management (and I say this coming from a vacuum that had a retractable cord so don’t take it too seriously unless you currently have one with that option and have gotten used to the bliss of not having to wrap and then unwrap when you are told you missed an area that needs cleaning). There is a cord hook on the main unit and then a hook on the carpet sweeper and the floor sweeper. If you have the cord wrapped around the hooks on the unit and either of those attachments, you cannot remove that attachment from the extension pole without unwrapping the cord completely. It’s a small hassle and easily remedied by just wrapping the cord around the main unit handle and dust bin instead of using the hooks. That way, you can interchange and store the way you want without fussing with the cord first. As you can tell, I’m not getting technical on this review – I don’t know much about vacuums because they aren’t my thing and it took some deep reasoning and soul searching for me to pull the trigger on a $250 (with tax) dirt sucking machine – I was simultaneously looking at any other FUN electronic item for the same amount before I clicked buy. But, all-in-all, I’m happy with the choice and thanks to all the reviewers who helped me make it. If you’re living with someone who has de facto control over all of the storage space in a 1 bedroom apartment with 4 small closets but only 1.5 you can call yours and everything of communal use has to go in your closet exclusively, this is the vacuum for you. If you have more space to work with and call your own, good for you – very happy for you. You will like the vacuum too.

Normally I don’t write reviews. Unless something is really really good. Or really really bad. That being said; know that up until I purchased this vacuum, I’ve just bought cheaper $60 dollar or so vacuums. I’m jot super easy on them and they must perform well. I have a long haired Norwegian Forest Cat (like a Maine coon) and a livestock guardian dog that is in house a lot and dumps hair….with hooks on it….like a gravel truck. ALL of.it white. We have hard floors with rugs. The rugs seem to especially cling to the whispy cat hair like velcro. Also all of my previous vacuums blew hair around before I could suck it up…..so I’ve been aggressively chasing and catching hair with vacuums for years. Which means….there is hair that falls when you are done. And within a day…well…imagine the frustration. THIS vacuum is everything I’ve ever needed. It does NOT blow hair ANYWHERE before you get to it. So the floors stay hair free for awhile. AND as tine goes on….the overall amount is obviously lessening!! I got a power corded one, because i dont want to deal with batheries and charging. I need full power at all times. The weight is not bad at all. On the rug setting it DOES get ALL of the hair outbof the RUG! It EASILY separates from the brush head DURING use. So you have a long wand to get into hard places. Also EXCELLENT for high up cobwebs. It also easily disconnects from the motor/canister section for storage. Also if anything gets atiluck in the wand, because you can separate both, removal is easy. Easy filter cleaning….EVERYTHING is easy. I like the way it stores with the motor down on the wand hook above the brush head. Everything about this vacuum, including the suction power, is living up to what I need for power, ease of use, ease of cleaning and easy storage. An absolute bang for your buck. I’ve had it about a month. And I’m BEYOND happy with it. HIGHLY recommend.

Pros: Pleasantly surprised by size, strength (great suction, in particular it’s awesome on carpet almost like an old school beater bar), and maneuverability (mostly). And love love love that it’s compact and easily goes in the closet – great small space option. No hesitation pulling it out. Super easy to disengage just the stick from the floor attachment and then pop back in. Best stick vac I’ve seen. Like it way better than the Dysons I’ve tried.Cons: As a life long Kenmore canister user (from the Sears days), turns out I just can’t get used to holding weight in my hand (even though not bad), the bagless style (hate seeing and emptying those things), and this kind of motored rolling floor attachment. Awesome that you don’t have to switch for carpet, but I miss the simple duster style hard floor attachment that effortlessly swept everywhere and everything. I also don’t love that connector piece at the bottom (between the stick and floor attachment). Makes it harder to get under some low spaces than it should. Everything lies flat and then there’s this bump (the plastic hanging hook?) right before the stick? But overall, a very solid choice and likely the cons are just personal preference. It’s a great vacuum!

I bought this vacuum 2 months ago and wanted to wait to write the review till I had used it for a while and could write an honest review. This vacuum has worked really well in our house of 7 people and 1 dog. It has really good suction power and picks up all the dirt and dust I have run it over. It does take a few passes if something is a little bit bigger in size and at times I have had to lift the front end a bit to get the “bigger” item to go into the suction area. I am going to put a Pros and Cons list below with a brief explanation of each one.PROS:* Suction: The suction is very powerful on this vacuum. It seems to pick up most anything.* Lights: I love the lights on this. Very bright and light up the area I am working on. I love that there are even lights on the upper part that detaches. I like that I am also lighting up the area I’m working on when I don’t have the bottom roller attached.* Maneuverability: This vacuum way better at maneuvering than any previous vacuum I have owned. I like how it doesn’t have a big canister on it that gets in the way if I have to go under things like tables and such. You can practically turn the head on this sideways to get it into small spaces.* Unhooking Crevice tool: This is easily unhooked from the main part of the vacuum, with just the push of a button.* Cord Length: The length of the cord is just right. Not too short or long. I can hook it up to one outlet in a room and be able to vacuum the whole room.* Compact Storage: When you detach the Crevice tool and hook it on the front of the vacuum for storage it is really compact and easy to put in a small space. Stores much better than a canister vacuum.CONS:* Loud: This is a very loud vacuum. It has great suction power. Although because it has so much power and no canister, it does not have a lot of ways to filter the noise. So be prepared to not hear mush of anything until you are done.* Dust Bin Opening: I do not like the style of how this opens. It is on a hinge system which is great for easy opening, but if you don’t hold it the right way above your trash can you could be vacuuming twice.* Anti-wrap rotator head: It is supposed to be anti-wrap, but it has still wrapped certain things onto the rotator head while using it. Luckily they have been easily unwrapped, but still wraps up.* Doesnt stand on it’s own when fully assembled: It will stand on it’s own if you disconnect the crevice tool top and place it on the base, but if I’m vacuuming and need to pick something up that got in the way, I can’t just set this upright and grab the item. If you attempt this it will go crashing down. I normally have to prop it against something and in a good angle or it will still fall.Overall I am very happy with this vacuum and am glad I purchased it. It has been great and even the Cons I found about it were not deal breakers. That is why I wanted to write this review so others could get a thorough review of it and help them to make their own decision about it.

Highlights:- Works fantastic on vinyl flooring and rugs- picks up all the cat hair on floors, litter by the box, and small debris- very light & super easy to maneuver (especially around furniture / table legs / corners)- good cord length for my needs (1 bed, 1 bath apt; 600-700 sq ft, all vinyl flooring)I have 2 cats who shed like crazy all year. Immediately after receiving the vacuum in the mail, I assembled it and tried it out. It picked up everything on every surface except for the furniture, even with the upholstery attachment. The attachment helped get a lot of the hair build-up off the couch but not all of it. I’m not disappointed with that because it’s what I signed up for when adopting cats. I’ll just continue draping the couch with blankets and washing them every couple weeks. Coincidentally, the blankets discourage scratching.

We live in a small apartment, about 650-700 maybe square feet. All carpeted, so we needed a vacuum but I didn’t want anything bulky that took up a ton of space. I’ve had it for over a month now and thought I would write a review since I’m always skeptical about purchasing things like this online, but this little vacuum continues to impress me!It arrived quickly, was very simple to assemble and is lightweight.I can vacuum from one end of the apartment to the other without needing to unplug and replug it in somewhere else, which is very nice!As you can see from the picture, it picks up quite a bit too. We have 2 little dogs who shed a ton, and the area we live in is crazy dusty around this time of year. I vacuum 1-2 times a week and it always sucks up that much hair/dust and more if I feel like going over the carpet more than once in a day.I’ve used this several times now, and it seems like the brush roller does what it says as far as self cleaning goes because I have not had to pull any hair from it which is also a plus. The dust bucket is also very easy to keep clean after dumping all the gross stuff out! I usually just spray out any of the dust clinging to the sides, let it air dry and click it back in looking good as new.Another cool thing I didn’t realize it had when I bought it was a little light at the front that helps you see some of the stuff you’re vacuuming! The only thing that would make it better is if the dust roller part was a bit wider, just to make vacuuming a little quicker but I knew the dimensions before purchasing so can’t really complain about that :)It might be more annoying to use if you were in a big house or vacuuming a large space, but it does a great job for what we need it for.Highly recommend!

This great little machine solved numerous problems for me. I was drowning in dog hair & tried several unworkable solutions. 1st, my regular vac required a hose hookup which kept coming off, was too bulky to get in tight spaces, & it was both expensive & inconvenient to constantly change the bags every other day. Yes I have that much dog hair! I tried a shop vac. No place to store a machine that big! Again, hose kept coming off & was too big to get into tight spaces, e.g. behind the toilet, under the radiators, between the stove/frig & cupboards. It was a major undertaking to change the collection bag: remove the motor, discard the huge bag & reattach a new one, then reseat the heavy motor. Plus the cord was so short I had to buy an extension cord just to vac an entire room. It was so noisy I had to wear ear plugs. I tried a robot vac. That did nothing for corners or even furniture edges, & it filled up quickly. The remote programming was a nightmare until I gave up. And now I have a Shark Rocket pro plus. Hoorah, success at last! Quick & easy empty– no bag. Very long cord easily stored on machine. Can vac rugs, yet quickly detach the rug brush with a touch of my foot & then use the long wand to get into all the tight & small places. No big hose to detach or drag around ! It is quiet. It requires very little storage space. I have it tucked away behind a door I seldom close. Summary? I love this machine!

I had an “original?” Shark for years and I adored it. It was effective, quieter than most vacuums and did all the vacuuming tasks I required. Then, it died.Little did I know that finding a suitable replacement for “The Shark” would prove to be more difficult than adopting a blond-haired, blue-eyed baby. I purchased and returned 8 vacuums. I was beginning to feel like Goldilocks. I wanted another Shark but all the high-end Sharks have a problem with getting the wand out of the vacuum. Apparently, it is a “known defect”. I am not going to pay $250+ and not be able to use the wand. Back went the Sharks to Costco or Amazon. Then came the Bissell candidates. They were acceptable but, they smelled. My husband and I could never really identify the odor but decided they were a potpourri of petrochemicals. Back went the Bissells. I am certain American Express was wondering what was going in our household; 8 vacuum purchases in one month. Then, I came upon the Shark Rocket that some company who does such things rated as Shark’s best vacuum. We ordered one and it sat in the entryway until I could muster the courage to open it and try it.Here are the “Pros”. It is really lightweight and does an absolutely incredible job on those horrible Pergo floors that seem to populate every house, condo and apartment in the world. It also gobbles up dust bunnies with enthusiasm. Plus, the vacuum head is low enough to the ground that the vacuum can actually get under cabinets, furniture etc. And, now the “cons”. The vacuum will not stand up by itself. You have to lean it against something if you want to turn it off. But then again there are a lot of people who do not stand up for or by themselves either so maybe that is a push either way. Number 2 on my list would be the difficulty opening the dirt holder but, really if I had a choice between a difficult to remove dirt holder and absolutely not being able to remove the wand in a higher end Shark, I would go with the dirt remover. And, lastly, there is no place on the vacuum to hang the accessory tools but, wait, you can purchase an add-on gadget for that very purpose. And now you want to put your vacuum away, so you have to find somewhere to lean it against. This is a good basic vacuum cleaner for now. I am holding out hope Shark will read all the reviews about the wand not releasing on the higher end Sharks and fix the “known problem”. But again, for now, I will stick with this little guy.

Aug 12 2015 Update:Had an issue with the motor & had to call cust service. Problem was handled very quickly & efficiently! Thanks!Orig REview:I researched until I was blue in the face because I do NOT like to sweep & I didn’t want to buy a problem or a disappointment. Sweeping is a pain & a chore. But to my surprise every time I use this Shark it brings a SMILE! :)Wasn’t sure what t to expect with this Shark,…there were some mixed reviews & opinions were helpful. Since I own several Dyson’s including a Dyson 44 (I’m not happy with the D-44 or small storage of the Black & Decker Platinum 20v hand vac) I looked at buying the dyson59. Glad I chose this Shark,…though nothing is Perfect…& this Shark is not designed for all situations.PERFORMANCE: I don’t try to sweep a large house,..its just not designed for that. It’s great for quick, effective clean ups but has flexibility to do larger areas too. Shark give me flexibility to keep my full-size Dyson in the closet much much longer between major cleaning. That’s nice. With a cord I have no batteries to run down unexpectedly. Nice. Yes I do have to find an outlet to plug it in, but it’s got a very long cord which minimizes that minor annoyance.-The dust /dirt collection cup is much biGGer than the Dyson’s I’ve tried & much easier to dump without a mess. Plus the dirt cup is easily detachable with one hand,..very convenient, well thought out,…a major plus.-The snap connections on the shaft of my portable Dyson are so loose goosey it’s like trying to sweep with a droopy wet noodle & leaks suction. Not fun.-But the Rocket is ROCK SOLID! The locking couplers on the shaft are very solid w/no loss of suction. No wet noodle feeling at all. It’s a lightweight metal of some sort more durable than plastic. But I resisted buying Shark for a long time because of the huckster feel to their advertising that made me resist buying. Shark’s First Class Quality Engineering surprised me.OTHER PLUSSES:* * *NEW UPDATE…. When I need to store the unit I don’t use the wall hook. Instead of mounting a plastic hook somewhere to hang the Shark, I lean the Sharp upright against the wall as one unit, nothing detached,….with the bottom vac head close to the wall. It’s quick, easy, nothing to disassemble, no mounting hooks involved, convent storage anywhere while minimizing storage space.-Lean Storage works for me because of two small, strategically placed rubberized feet /knobs on the underside of the dust cup that helps grab the wall so it doesn’t slide down. It also creates a 3-point stability between the 2 rubberized knobs & the sweeper head flat on the floor. In this 3-point position the Shark rests nicely balanced /stabilized with minimal storage space yet ready to conveniently swing into action quickly.-smartHE (smart Handy Engineering). The placement of rubber knobs is one example of what I call smartHE (Smart Handy Engineering) or smart, handy, practical engineering features that enhance Sharks performance, reduce stress & make it flat out easier /even fun to use. These small rubber knobs do double duty cushioning /stabilizing the plastic dirt cup when laying the sweeper flat on the floor. SUGG: would be helpful if Shark could enhance this upright storage feature with some pop-out rubber feet on the sweeper head & larger rubber on the bottom of the dirt bin.The 3-point storage is easy & simply needs a wall /closet etc to lean against. The rubber under the dirt cup keeps everything stable & in place,…automatically keeping itself from walking /rolling away from the wall or falling over sideways. I store it upright like this even on smooth hardwood floors. Very convenient & gives max flexibility to store it most anywhere out of sight, in an quiet corner, etc.. Nice! With a little practice it’s easy to catch on to the technique & not have problems of it falling over as some reviewers have mentioned.-Vac performance works great on medium, short carpeting, hardwood floors & tile. Don’t have to change height or anything,…just flip a switch that slows the beater brush on smooth surfaces. On deeper pile carpet I go to high speed. I read the directions. Easy Peasy & effective.-***UPDATE: The Sweeper’s Headlight was a BIG SURPRISE. The angle & intensity allows me to actually SEE THE DIRT dirt /dust on my medium dark hard wood floors. Nothing in the marketing describes this benefit, but it’s a real help to actually see where I’ve swept & see the dust in areas yet to be swept. NO MORE GUESSING! As a result I haven’t really used any other attachment yet. The slower brush speed setting for wood floors attracts dirt & smart handy engineering keeps the spinning roller from damaging the wood floor. Never a danger of that.-Bot the motorized animal attachment for cat hair & misc on bedding. I can immediately see the results in the transparent collection container. Use Shark for steps too, but often too lazy to switch the heads & simply use my normal floor attachment for steps too,… with great success.* * * UPDATE… WHEEL NOISE & HARDWOOD FLOORS: Not an issue for me. The two large wheels have rubberized tread which deaden click clacking over wood /tile floors & superior to all-plastic wheels wheels on most vacs.-The two small spacing rollers on the front of the sweeper head are not rubberized & do make some rolling noise on wood. Some reviews reported the noise was annoying on hard floors but on balance was not an issue for me.* * * NEW TIP: IF YOU HAVE A BAD BACK or trouble bending over you can wind the electric cord without bending. While standing upright with cord in hand, simply let out enough cord to loop it over the lower hook when draw the cord back over the upper hook then let out enough length to loop under the lower hook & repeat. The cord is flexible yet stiff enough to make this work easily. With a little practice you’ll catch on easily. Works for me.-Does have a nice LOOOONG cord. But I always come to an end somewhere where an just an extra 5 feet would be nice. It’s one of those things where LOOOG is never long enough! An extra 5 feet would be handy if it can be safely done.-Durability & Longevity….only time will tell. But this Shark is starting from higher quality level /features than battery powered units like Dyson44 /59. That higher quality & attention to detail usually translates to durability & longevity.GREATEST STRENGTH: HIGH QUALITY & VERSATILITY. Does not pretend to be a full size vacuum. But delivers Big time features. Shark adapts well to most situations /hardwood /tile /medium & short carpet, under furniture & hard to reach places with excellent heppa filtration that’s easy to clean & refuse. No special filters to constantly buy. So it’s versatile, self contained & easy to maintain filters with peak performance. It is wrist arm intensive so if you’re handicapped in those areas you may want to stay with traditional floor sleepers,,,but can always give it a 30 day test /return.-Usually avail at a lower price than battery powered competitors. With Shark there’s no limit on run time,…no expensive batteries to wear out or repurcha$e. Just plug & run.-TOO MUCH: Suction & cleaning performance are excellent. Some sweepers I’ve used have TOO MUCH suction making it tough to easily move the sweeper across the carpet because it sucks down on the floor /carpet & won’t glide. No problem here w/Shark due to smart engineering that manages the suction well & picks up the dirt. With a little care & technique I can sweep even loose throw carpets without it being sucked off the floor into the sweeper head. SUGG: it would be nice if Shark had a safety overload pop-out reset switch to protect the head roller & motor if something gets caught in the roller.CONS & More SUGGS: There aren’t many. Plastic wall mounting hook is a little weak. But that’s not an issue for me since I use the handy 3-point storage for leaning against a wall in a closet or empty corner out of sight yet close at hand. This makes sweeping quick & effective,…not a big production. An extra 5ft on the cord would be nice. Extra lights on the sweeper head that shine not only to the front, but to the sides for larger viewing area would be nice. Adjust the motor to get rid of the annoying whine. A simple quick wheel lock to keep the unit from rolling away from the wall when storing /leaning it upright.-A larger accessory bag that closes more secure with a couple fabric loops for hanging would be nice. I don’t change accessories very often & store them in the handy bag on a hook in my closet. Some reviewers prefer having all attachments on the shaft at all times, but for my taste that reduces portability & performance which is Shark. Besides, I can use my big, bulky sweeper if I want all my attachments at my fingertips.* * * UPDATE: MY CAT ALWAYS JETS out of the room whenever I start a sweeper. To my compete surprise, my cat GRACIE just calmly sat there watching me sweep away! Who knew?! Ha! SHARK IS CAT ENDORSED… :).BOTT LINE: Brings a s-m-i-l-e every time I use it. Pushing my Shark I feel smart, refined & minimal. Now when going back & pushing my full sized vac I feel clunky & out of step. Just sayin. Unexpectedly gives me a smile & lift on what used to be a chore. After owning 3/4 Dysons, I finally chose to break away from all that overpriced hype & poorly fitting cheap plastic. It was hard to convince myself to do that. I know we’re just talking about a sweeper here, but the feeling of freedom & discovery was worth it.This shark delivered solutions for all the annoyances that were trapping me with Dyson & other brands. Shark’s smartHE (smart Handy Engineering) features are second to none. Superior fit /finish, exceptional cleaning performance, versatility, larger collection cup easily removable, smarter design, usually less expensive… this Shark is a winner in my book. Glad I gave it a try. Our cat Grace is much happier, too.HIGHLY Recommend. EASILY EARNS 5-STARS!

Let me start by saying that over the last 23 years we have owned a total of (5) Shark vacuum cleaners, and we have never been disappointed in the quality, performance, or the customer service. Are there better or more powerful manufacturer’s vacuums out there. We have never needed to find out. We have only changed models due to our needs. We started out with the largest and most powerful vacuum (the Navigator) and as we got older, we started looking for lighter models. We currently have a Rotator, but again, we are older, so we started looking for a lighter model. After a lengthy review of all the Shark models, we settled on this model. Mostly because it is one of the lightest models and since we have cats, we needed a model designed with that in mind. I just used our new HV322 for the first time. Oh, one other thing. Since my wife and I retired, I do most of the vacuuming now, so this is my review. I hope my wife feels the same after she uses it. Anyway, I am going to list the positive and less positive things I found in using this vacuum.1. As I stated, it is a light vacuum yet every bit as powerful as our Rotator.2. It holds all of the dirt and pet hairs that the Rotator does, and we have an 1800sqft home.3. I like the furniture brush better than the Rotator. The bristles are angled, and they are stiffer. It grabs the pet hairs better.4. The power head has (2) speeds, but unlike the Rotator, the rotating brush rotates on both speeds. Just a lot faster on 2. We have area rugs, so I was able to use the lower speed for the entire house.5. The LED light is located on the motor head, so it is on anytime the unit is on.6. The foot lever on the power head makes it easy to disconnect and use the long tube.7. The dust canister has (2) ways to empty it and both ways are easy.8. I like that the crevice tool doesn’t have the extendable brush. That allows it to get deeper. Now the less positive things1. The cord could be a little longerThat’s my review for now. I doubt anything will change, but if it does, I will provide an update.
