I had a 12amp Wind Tunnel that I’d had for about two years that, despite the screws breaking off when I tried replacing the belt in AGAIN, I loved how well it worked.I bought this one, based upon the 12amp answer that someone gave about it. When it was delivered I discovered that it is actually a 10amp. I decided, though, to at least give it a try, before returning it.When I vacuumed my carpet (which my entire apartment is) it vacuumed up so much stuff I thought it was tearing up my carpet. As it turned out, it was actually vacuuming up what my previous vacuum cleaner had started leaving behind.Since I’ve owned this one, my carpet has never felt and looked so clean. It works as good my old steel vacuum cleaner (I paid hundreds for), and it isn’t as bulky and heavy. It has more bristles than my last Hoover, and more suction power, so it gets everything in one pass. And it has no problem vacuuming up pet hair. I have Belgian Malinois who sheds constantly (despite regularly brushing), so I vacuum almost daily. It gets every bit of her hair easily. The hose is super flexible and easy to work with cleaning ceiling fans, vents, and blinds. No more having to dust those first. I can do them all all at once.It works amazingly well on regular floors, without kicking back and throwing stuff out the back end.All in all…it is the best and most awesome vacuum cleaner I’ve ever owned. The price is a huge bonus.I highly recommend it!!!On a side note…1) The canister really should be emptied after each vacuuming. I, personally, also always brush mine with a bottle brush to keep it from clogging, and so I don’t have to wash it as often. The hose, canister, and filter should be washed regularly. Otherwise that’s what causes that nasty vacuum cleaner smell…you don’t want your home smelling like when you vacuum.I also fully extend the hose and replace it, before emptying the canister, to get out anything that might be caught between the grooves of the hose.2) To keep the Cord Rewind working properly, the cord shouldn’t be pulled out much further past the yellow warning, and especially not past the red warnings that it has. And, the cord should be untwisted before, or as you’re rewinding it, so it rewinds as it should.HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

I have owned an earlier, nicely designed version of this Hoover for some 15 years, and it still works fine. But I decided to replace it with its newest manifestation because the price is excellent, because I am tired of winding up electrical cords, and because one never knows what is going to happen to supply chains in this era. Well, I used it, right out of the box, on carpets and floors that I had vacuumed just a few days earlier. Wow — this new Hoover sucked up enough dirt in ten minutes to fill a flower pot, on carpets and floors that I had thought were clean. I am beyond impressed. As to issues with the retraction mechanism for the cord, as mentioned by some reviewers, for me it works perfectly and smoothly.

Update: reducing to 4 stars due to two negative factors. On hardwood floors, it is very noisy and has sort of an annoying drone. The retractable cord does not work properly. You have to hold down the lever and feed it back into the unit. Otherwise, it works well. For the price, it’s good value.Wow, I’m pleasantly surprised how well this vacuum cleaner works. It took me about 5 mins to put together, a few minutes to read the instructions, and I was ready to rock and roll. To compare, my 12 year old wind tunnel just died, but I had luckily just finished vacuuming all our floors. One day later, I set this up and vacuumed the same rooms. It is amazing how much more debris this unit sucked up. Seems well made too. I’m impressed, especially at the price point.

Edited August 29, 2022 – Things have been great with this vacuum cleaner until today, when the dirt cup was a big problem. I cleaned the filter for the first time and when I went to replace it the dirt cup top would NOT come off. I really fought with it for about 15 minutes until it finally gave, for whatever reason. I went back and looked at other reviews and many people have had this problem, so there is definitely a design flaw. Very frustrating. Not looking forward to the next time I have to remove that top. This arrived fast. Easy assembly and I used it right away. Very strong suction, but I will say that it is heavy. I have a long-haired dog and two long-haired cats, so I need a vacuum that can handle a lot of pet hair. There was no hair wound around the roller brush after my first-time use.The rewind cord works fine. I’ve always held the vacuum cleaner cord in my left hand while vacuuming, so I just let out all the cord when I start. One benefit of doing this is no heat buildup inside the machine. I prefer not having to unwind and wind the cord myself, so I’m a fan of the rewind feature. I did not find the on-off button location terribly inconvenient. The updated photos now show the attachments I received, and they work fine. The roller brush on my unit does not stop spinning when in the upright position and there is no special button to control that, so my solution when using attachments is turning the carpet height to the highest setting so there’s less chance of burning up the carpet or the belt.Overall, it’s a hard-working vacuum cleaner for a great price.

Excellent vacuum cleaner, my wife really loves it, I would recommend it to anyone who needs a great vacuum cleaner. Excellent value for the price. The cord is the perfect length, excellent suction.

I have a previous vacuum of this model. It has worked well for many years and it is still going strong. Since it is so old I purchased a new one before Hoover changed the style. On a grading scale the old one is an A+.This new one is an F+, it has power but can’t be used because it spews out the dirt and dust into the air due to the inlet duct being out of alignment. There is no way to fix it as the lower part is affixed to the vacuum center but the actual duct is not. On the older model it is, and secured with a screw to the vacuum center to hold it in permanent alignment. This makes the new vacuum unusable.Aside from this defect some other features are not as user friendly either. The on/off switch is much farther down, the rewind feature is jerky but does eventually work. I wanted a lightweight vacuum but it feels flimsy and cheap. It is not returnable as I purchased it last summer, but after removing it from the box just placed it in the closet for future use when needed.I have only had Hoover vacuum’s for the past 45 years. They were made to last and worked great. This one is made so much more cheaply that I have lost confidence in Hoover and will switch to another brand.

I have always had hoovers. Kinda bummed I didn’t take my grandparents real original Hoover. That weighed a lot, small brush head though. Had that removable bag. I had the Hoover version that was released in 2014? It died, just shut off, went right to see what the latest version was and ordered. Hoover is the best home vacuum. I have dogs so it is imperative I can keep clean. Part of the reason it is heavy is the superior suction of hoover. The vacuum is weighty, but when using that suction is beyond my past vacuums. The originals has a solid steel head and weighed down to suction. This new version is incredible at suction. Like another reviewer I hadn’t realized how lacking the old one was at truly cleaning the rug till I got this. And the second filter system at the base is a great addition. I’m only bummed I didn’t keep the other canister as I kept it very clean and the filter was like new. I followed their suggestions back then, cleaning the canister every time I vacuumed and washing it every other month or so. The best vacuum for a multi-dog home that has winds and can get very dusty!

I’ve been using Hoover vacuums for over 40 years, and the WindTunnel versions have always been great, usually lasting 10 years or longer. This unit will probably be the last Hoover I will buy as the units have been cheapened to the point that I don’t expect to get over 3 or 4 years of use from it. Overall this vacuum is only “acceptable”. It’s bagless, a plus, and picks up and retains dirt very well. It isn’t self-propelled and there’s no navigation light for darker areas you may be cleaning. (How much would an LED lamp have cost to include?) Compared to the older self-propelled models it’s considerably lighter weight due to more and thinner plastic construction, however on low-pile carpet I have to use the next to highest pile setting as it’s not easy to maneuver at the lower settings. I bought the model with the new “improved” cord rewind. I wouldn’t want to see the previous version because the cord rewind is the worst feature. If you don’t normally use curse words then skip this vacuum because the cord rewind will force you to use and even learn new curse words. The recoil spring is plenty strong, but the cheap plastic trigger mechanism…..well, it doesn’t “trigger” the rewind very well. After removing the HEPA filter cartridge and looking above it, I see the problem is the white plastic trigger lever is mounted to pivot on a red plastic spindle. This spindle isn’t strong enough and flexes, preventing the lever from pushing the release far enough toward the center of the cord carousel. I made a fix for mine, but won’t describe it as I don’t think the rest of the mechanism will last long either.I rated this vacuum at 3. I would have rated it 4 if they had just omitted the rewind feature. This review is a little sad for me as I’ve always admired the Hoover brand, but as “they” say, ‘nothing good ever lasts’.

I unboxed the new vacuum and assembled the handle by removing the set screw, clipping in the attachable handle and replacing the set screw. The auto rewind cord must be pulled completely out or it doesn’t function correctly. I am not sure if that is a defect. There was no power drive like the Kirby which I will miss. Debris collection compartment was easy to monitor and clean.

Loved the last one I had but it died in a short time. Hope this one lives longer
